Advising appointments with MJ Career Services
MJ Career Services assists undergraduate and master’s students with every aspect of career preparation via walk-in hours or by appointment in the Student Services area on the first floor of Carroll Hall. Appointments generally last 30 minutes and can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.
Advising appointments with University Career Services
Eligible students can schedule appointments for all career development needs with any available career counselor. All appointments are held in Hanes Hall, unless otherwise noted. Appointments will be scheduled via Handshake.
Google Analytics Academy
Analytics Academy helps you learn about Google's measurement tools so that you can grow your business through intelligent data collection and analysis. Courses include Google Analytics for Beginners, Advanced Google Analytics, Google Analytics for Power Users and more. Google Analytics for Beginners and Advanced Google Analytics are Academy courses intended to prepare users for the Google Analytics Individual Qualification (GAIQ) exam.
Google Digital Garage: Certification in Fundamentals of Digital Marketing
Master the basics of digital marketing with Google's free course accredited by Interactive Advertising Bureau Europe and The Open University. There are 26 modules to explore, all created by Google trainers, packed with practical exercises and real world examples to help turn knowledge into action. The course is free, self-paced and includes a certification. Getting certified shows employers that you have a clear understanding of the core concepts of digital marketing. Students can also add the qualification to your resume and easily upload it to your LinkedIn profile.
This mobile group messaging app will be used to help foster a community of support as you transition to a new area. It will also be a great way to connect with fellow MJ-school students and begin networking. Handshake is a new online portal that includes job and internship postings, as well as details about on-campus recruiting, career fairs, workshops, employer contact information and more. Log in and complete your profile today.

Whether you are just entering the workforce or if you are just looking for a change from your current job experience, check out this infographic that curates general characteristics of both as you consider your path.
In addition to Handshake, industry-focused job boards are a great way to discover job openings. A few of the many media and journalism professional organizations with career centers or job boards include the American Advertising Federation, the National Association of Black Journalists, the Public Relations Society of America, the Public Relations Student Society of America, the Society for News Design, and the Society of Professional Journalists. Additionally, available positions at UNC-Chapel Hill are posted via the UNC Human Resources Careers at Carolina job board.
MEJO internships for credit
"MEJO 393: Mass Communication Practicum" is a 1-credit hour, pass/fail, internship-for-credit course offered in the fall and spring semesters and the second session of summer school.

LinkedIn Learning is a leading online learning platform that helps anyone learn business, software, technology and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. Through the UNC-Chapel Hill subscription, current students have access to the LinkedIn Learning video library of engaging, top-quality courses taught by recognized industry experts. Within the LinkedIn Learning library, the "Career Development Training and Tutorials" playlist provides more than 150 courses on leadership, management techniques, productivity, resume writing and more. Students can also explore Learning Paths to find courses organized by career trajectories and skill sets.

MJAA Mentorship Program
The goal of the MJAA Mentorship Program is to support the educational and professional growth of student participants — and for alumni professionals to play a key role in the development of UNC’s next generation of media and journalism industry leaders. The program is facilitated by the MJ-school and the Media and Journalism Alumni Association (MJAA) Board.

Going Global provides country/area guides, H1B visa information, an employer directory and global job/internship postings. Going Global Career Guides and the Global Key Employer Directory are updated continually. This massive research tool contains more than 10,000 resources for finding employment in the United States and abroad.
