Scholarships

The school offers more than 100 scholarships and awards each year to students in the school or students who will be in the school the following year.

The 2017-18 scholarships and awards application is now open. For more information, contact mjschoolscholarships@unc.edu.

Applicants are generally considered for all scholarships and awards. Some scholarships give preference based on:

  • Academic interests
  • Geographic location
  • Financial need
  • Programs of study

Applicants should explain any relevant qualifications for specific scholarships on their application forms.

Current UNC students who have pre-declared or are enrolled in the School of Media and Journalism are eligible to apply for scholarships and awards and must fill out the general application form in its entirety. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. In order to receive a scholarship, students must be enrolled in both the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year. Scholarships will not be awarded for one semester of an academic year.
