Trailblazer UNC professor Carol Reuss dies at 86

UNC School of Media and Journalism Emeritus Professor Carol Reuss died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018. Reuss was a pioneer as one of the first women on the faculty when she joined the school in 1976. She taught the first public relations courses in the school and helped build the school's PR specialization. The school will host a memorial service for Reuss from 2-4 p.m. on, Sunday, Feb. 17, in Carroll Hall's Freedom Forum.

MJ-school team a semi-finalist in international 'AI and the News' challenge

A project team from the UNC School of Media and Journalism has been named a semi-finalist in "AI and the News: An Open Challenge" — a call for innovative solutions to reshape the landscape of news with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

UPDATE: According to the Alert Carolina announcement made on Monday, Dec. 10, at 5:46 p.m., the University will stay in Condition 2 until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Exams within the MJ-school originally scheduled to begin prior to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, will be rescheduled on a course-by-course basis.
