Laurie L Stockton joined the School of Media and Journalism in June 2015 as the first and only full-time Research Project Manager.   She serves on an interdisciplinary research team led by Dr. Joan Cates for an NIH-funded study that uses targeted health communication to raise awareness about and increase the uptake of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine among providers, parents and preteens.

Before coming to Carolina, Laurie worked on international family planning and reproductive health studies at FHI 360 from 2011-2014.  From 2003-2011 she was a co-evaluator for several federally-funded, school-based substance abuse and violence prevention grants in North Carolina as part of a team at Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation.
