The R.B. House Undergraduate Library welcomes you to join for the Spring 2019 SkillfUL technology workshop lineup. Registration is required. General computer skills are required, but you do not need specialized prior knowledge.

January 2019

  • Register here for Introduction to Adobe for Graphic Design on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 2-3 p.m.
    • IMPORTANT: In order to participate fully in the Adobe sessions, you MUST have an AdobeID prior to attendance. If you plan to use your own laptop, please download Adobe Creative Cloud, then install Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop. Visit the ITS Adobe webpage here for help.
  • Register here for Adobe Illustrator I on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 10-11 a.m.

DEADLINE: Extracurricular activity funding application
Repeats every month on the 31 of August until Sun Mar 31 2019. Also includes Sun Sep 30 2018, Wed Oct 31 2018, Fri Nov 30 2018, Mon Dec 31 2018, Thu Jan 31 2019, Thu Feb 28 2019, Sun Mar 31 2019.

Funding for extracurricular activities is available throughout the academic year from three funds: Don and Barbara Curtis Excellence Fund for Extracurricular Activities, Cole Campbell Professional Development Fund and Patricia Miller Moore Award. There is one application for extracurricular activities. 

Applications are due and reviewed at the end of each month — August through March — during the academic year.

This special hands-on workshop will be hosted by Bill Adair, the Pulitzer Prize winning editor of PolitiFact, and Andy Specht of The News & Observer.

During this workshop, students will experience the art and science of how reporters and editors select, report and write fact-checks.

Students who attend this workshop will also be eligible for a $5,000 James Bennett Graham Fellowship in Summer 2019 to research and write fact-checks at PolitiFact or one of its national partner news organizations such as The News & Observer. You must attend the workshop to be eligible for the summer fact-checking fellowship.

Please RSVP to Ryan Thornburg before 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28 .
