Awards

UNC School of Media and Journalism undergraduate majors who have been admitted to the school are eligible to apply for a wide array of awards made possible by generous donors.

Awards are available in the following areas:

  • Extracurricular activities
  • Global experiences
  • Immersive experiences
  • Internships

The application period for most awards is Jan. 1 - Feb. 1.  However, applications and deadlines vary. Please review guidelines carefully and follow directions. Awards differ from scholarships in that award amounts are paid directly to the student rather than to the student’s UNC account. Awards may have tax implications. Learn more about scholarships here.

MJ-school undergraduate majors also are eligible for superlative awards chosen by an MJ-school faculty committee. The committee is chaired by C.A. Tuggle, senior associate dean for undergraduate studies. There is no application required for these awards.

For questions, please email UNCMJawards@unc.edu.
